This website was born out of my personal desire to share with everyone out there the extraordinary wealth of tools and ideas that can help you find more calmness, stillness and peacefulness in your life.
Unfortunately, the world we live in has become increasingly disconnected lately, and we are at a point where the need for tools that can help us recollect and become reengaged with ourselves, with the world and with our fellow human beings has become stronger than ever before. We can see more and more people instinctively turning towards yoga, meditation and all kinds of holistic methods in an attempt to be reunited with their humanity and with their source.
Who am I?
Hi there! My name is Gabriela Ioan (read ‘yuan’, like the Chinese currency).
I am a life coach, yoga and meditation teacher, freelance writer and perpetual seeker of love and truth.
The inspiration for this website came from my own journey and my own struggles with anxiety, depression and insecurity. And, while life is a continuous learning experience, I find myself in a much better place now than I was 10 years ago, living with more awareness and feeling more fulfilled mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Looking back, I can see how my struggles shaped me to become a more compassionate, loving and tolerant version of myself.
I found a huge help in yoga and meditation. The impact was so powerful that it even took me by surprise. In 2016, I decided to leave my very secure job that was bringing me a nice and steady amount of money because I felt it was time to go in a different direction. The job had become draining for me and was not providing me with any learning or growth anymore.
I traveled to India, where I immersed myself in the ancient wisdom this country had to offer. Although I went to India with the intention to stay for just 3-4 months, I ended up spending 10 months there. It was time well spent… A lot of wounds were healed during that time. I left India refreshed, with a new understanding of myself and the world.
I understand, however, that the learning never ends. Every day, I am working on adding new truths and new meanings to my life.
My personal journey into self discovery started almost 10 years ago when I enrolled in a Hypnotherapy diploma course. It was during that course that I understood the burden of my own emotions, of all those repressed feelings that I had been carrying with me. One afternoon I caught a fast glimpse of what was possible, of the person I could be, and that was enough to convince me to keep going on this self discovery path.
And, slowly slowly, the healing process began. I went on to study NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) and Reiki, I became a yoga teacher, I lived in a meditation centre for 5 months and I became a certified meditation teacher… It has been a crazy ride so far, and it isn’t over yet…
When I am not traveling, I like to be surrounded by my books and by the home decor items I brought with me from all the places I visited (check out my Instagram account to find out more about my travels). I am a huge Game of Thrones fan, I have been proudly following a vegetarian diet for almost 3 years now and I have only recently jumped on the vegan movement wagon (which, honestly, I am struggling to stay on).
My hope for World of Shanti is to create a platform with the potential to inspire and empower those who stop to visit it. My intention and vision are to create a community of people around the idea that life is a wonderful journey and all the support we need on the way is always available. And no matter what we are going through, everything gets easier when we know that we are not alone and that we are being supported and guided by like-minded people who understand our struggle.

The site content is divided into three main sections:
– Peace; here are included all things related to spirituality, quieting the mind and finding inner peace and balance (like yoga and meditation)
– Love; where we talk about life and about what it means to be human on the path of knowing ourselves and loving ourselves more (life advice and coaching related issues are included here)
– Connection; where we get to know each other and learn from each other’s experiences (through life stories or travel stories, for instance)
